Tullagh Bay is a real, if somewhat hidden, gem. This is a sheltered, curved bay with long stretches of soft sand and crystal clear water. On a sunny day in August it had only a few people when we visited.
The water was calm, clear and lovely for swimming . While the beach itself is a bit open , the dunes behind it will give you shelter if you need it . Tullagh is large enough to cope with bigger numbers and there is plenty of room to walk, run, play and even do a bit of horse riding. All in all a really good place to swim.
There is a reasonably sized grassy car park and access is across a sandy path, where you will manage a buggy but not a wheelchair
From Buncrana take the R238 for Clonmany and Dunaff Head. In Clonmany follow the road for Dunaff and then watch for a grassy car park on the right hand side past the caravan park.
