The Warren is smaller and quieter than its ‘big brother’ round the corner in Owenahinca, but maybe all the better for that.
This beach is sheltered by cliffs and the water here is calmer and easier for swimming. There is a gradual wade in which makes it better for children to splash and play. There are rocks alongside the beach and in the middle, so you will find places to shelter.
This is a good place for families to spend a sunny few hours. However, do take heed of the warning signs at either end of the beach.
Blue Flag beach 2012.
Lifeguards are on duty during the summer. There is a good sized car park near to the beach and it is buggy accessible. Yet again we couldn’t see access for wheelchairs. There are toilets but they were locked in June.
From Cork take the N71 toward Skibbereen. Just before you cross a bridge coming into Rosscarbery watch out for a left turn signposted for The Warren.
